Dear Students and Parents,
I hope that you all have had a great start to the year with Mr. Ursi. I am happy to be back at Unionville Public School this Fall and look forward to a challenging and rewarding remainder of the year together.
As we begin together, I would like to address some classroom procedures for the remainder of this school year:
School Agendas
Agendas will be sent home with students nightly and will serve as the first point of all communication between home and school. All homework and reminders will be listed in the homework agenda. Students are responsible for maintaining and completing their agenda each day before leaving school. In order to further facilitate home to school communication, you may refer to the class website:
Stationery
Students are expected to have the correct stationery at school every day. As students in grades 5 and 6 travel to different classrooms for some subjects, it is very important that their stationery items be kept in a pencil case labeled with their name. Please review the attached list of requested school supplies and ensure that your child still has all of the items needed.
Portfolio of Work
Students are required to have one 2” binder that will be kept at school in order to build a Portfolio of Work. During the remainder of the school year, students will place samples of completed work, tests and quizzes within their binders. Periodically, these binders will be sent home in order for parents to catch a glimpse of the level of work that their child has been accomplishing. Your comments and signature are requested on the tracking sheet inside.
Interviews
As you have all just had an interview with Mr. Ursi to discuss the progress of your child, I may not have an opportunity to meet with all parents first-hand in an interview setting. In order to facilitate becoming better acquainted with your child, we will do a series of “get-to-know-you” activities in the week ahead. Also, please complete the Student Information sheet attached and return it with your child as soon as possible. If you would like to meet with me individually in an interview setting to discuss any needs of your child that cannot be addressed on the information sheet, please indicate such on the bottom of the sheet and I will contact you to establish a date and time at some point in the upcoming weeks.
Schedule
Please note some minor changes to the attached student schedule.
I greatly appreciate all the support and guidance that parents are providing for students at this point in the academic year and look forward to getting to know your children in the weeks and months ahead.
Yours sincerely,
J. Rocha
